Dear Community Members,
As we shared in November, construction activity is set to begin in early 2026 to bring Northgate Town Square to life. We are pleased to provide an update on the first steps in this multi-phased process.
This week (1/26/2026), interior work is beginning within the three former Sears buildings. This initial phase, expected to last approximately six to eight weeks, will focus on the removal of non-structural materials inside the buildings. Completing this work is an important and necessary step in preparing for the next phase: the full demolition of the Sears structures.
We are currently in the process of securing demolition permits with the City of San Rafael. The earliest possible start date for demolition is March 1, 2026. Once a firm date is confirmed, we will share another community update with additional details and comprehensive information about what to expect during the next stage of construction.
We are excited to begin the physical transformation of the site and appreciate the community’s continued interest and support. We look forward to sharing progress and updates as we move forward.
